jun 5, 1976 - First use of 3D wireframe CGI.

Description:

Futureworld:
Futureworld, the sci-fi thriller, was the first film to use a new format of CGI called 3D wireframe CGI which was much higher quality and was able to make images 3-dimensional and of much higher quality. This allowed realistic looking images that could otherwise never be projected onto the screen. This is the modernised format of CGI and is used majorly in today’s cinema.

Terminator 2: judgement day: (1991)
CGI had increased in quality dramatically in the 1990s. Entire feature length films were made with CGI. Terminator 2: judgement day presented the quality in modern CGI in 5 and a half minutes with 100 elements of CGI. This demonstrated what CGI could really do and was one of the most ambitious uses of CGI to that point.
