Youtube is a video sharing website that was created by three former PayPal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim.

Youtube relies on user generated content, UGC, which is why it is important as it allows the public to create and show their own content that could then lead to a job at a big company or earning money off the videos, through ads and sponsorships. The platform also allows already existing companies such as BBC to upload clips from their shows and promote them to another demographic.
