mar 22, 1996 - Toy Story Release
Description:
Directed and written by John Lasseter, Toy Story was the first fully CGI film.
Pixar, after separating from LucasFilm, created CGI adverts for companies before signing a contract with Disney to produce 3 feature films. Toy Story was the first in this contract, and was a landmark moment.
This was important in the industry of animation; it meant that rather than animating on cels, an animator could utilize 3D in their workflow. It meant a whole different dimension could be used in film.
