Britain was in a lot of debt and had sent soldiers to contain the fiendish colonists. After the Stamp Act was repealed, Britain couldn’t afford the ships. So, Parliament passed the Quartering Act, which meant colonists had to “quarter” soldiers, which meant to house them.
