Ponce De Leon was born in Valladolid, Spain. He had accompanied Christopher Columbus on his second voyage and established a colony on the Puerto Rican coast in 1508, which he later become governor of. He learned of a Island called Bimini which had a spring which would restore youth when you bathed in it. Ponce De Leon had set multiple voyages to find this mystical islands and on one trip discovered the peninsula of Florida. After sailing up and down the coast a skirmish with native peoples had injured him. He later would die in a hospital in Havana, Cuba.
