 The March on Washington was massive protest march that happened August 23, 1963, around 250,000 people gathered in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the march was to advocate for civil and economic rights of African Americans. It was also the occasion where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his, “I have a dream” speech.
