Description:

September 15, 1963, the Birmingham Bombing, or 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing, was an attack on an African American church in Birmingham, Alabama as an act of white supremacy. There were twenty-two non-fatal injuries & four deaths. The four killed were Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson and Carol Denise McNair. The bombing was executed by four members of the KKK, Thomas Edwin Blanton Jr., Herman Frank Cash, Robert Edward Chambliss, and Bobby Frank Cherry. The attack marked the turning point in the U.S during the civil rights movement and helped with the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
