5h 15min, dec 25, 1776 y - Washington crosses the Delaware River and captures a Hessian force at Trenton, New Jersey. This was important because while the Hessians were celebrating Christmas, George Washington and his army was suprise attacking and/or ambushing the Hessians. But why this was really important was because it raised the Patriots’s spritits and acted as a make up victory from the battle of Long Island.
