oct 6, 1927 - The Jazz Singer was released
Description:
The Jazz Singer was the first feature length film to use synchronised sound. This was achieved by the use of movie-tone which is a thin strip of celluloid that runs down the side of the film.
The use of synchronised sound with in film was revolutionary as it now meant that movies no longer needed captions and a person at the side of the screen playing a piano.
