DVDis a Digital Optical storage format invented and developed by many companies in 1995. The medium can store any kind of digital data and is now widely used for software and other computer files. It is also used for video programs, Video games and films and tv shows when watched through a DVD Player. The DVD was invented by; Sony Corporation, Panasonic, Philips and Toshiba. The invention of the DVD is significant because it allowed video formats to be more portable and the disc can hold more data in comparison to the VHS tapes.
