jan 1, 1983 - Internet Invented
Description:
During the 1930's and 1940's very early versions of the internet began being created. At first they where searchable storage systems of books and media but as the years went by the internet got better. By the early 1960's the first practical schematics for the internet where released. MIT's J.C.R Licklider popularised the idea of an "Intergalactic Network" of computers and so scientist began thinking of was to make this a reality. Soon after that computer scientists developed the concept of "packet switching" which is where small electronic signals are sent from one system through the network and then get received by other systems on the network. This later become one of the most important building blocks of the internet. The first workable prototype of the internet came in the 1960's with the creation of ARPANT, or the "Advanced Research Projects Agency Network." Originally funded by the US DoD (Department of defence) ARPANET used packet switching to allow multiple computers to communicate. The technology advanced through the years and in 1983 it became a more recognisable version of the Internet. By the 1990's the internet had advanced greatly and soon after that streaming services like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon prime ect where put onto the internet to allow movies and T.V Shows to be streamed. This is a significant advancement as it meant that more people could easily access the movies and tv shows that were being released onto the internet. I think this is important because as the internet advanced it became common and so accessing films and tv shows on it was common and allowed the vast majority of the public to view them at a cheaper price.
