to begin with in the early 1920's if a film maker wanted sound with there film the would have to play the music through a record player or have it performed live over the seen by a musician, this lead to the first talkie's (films with sound) this film was called the jazz singer and the soundtrack and audio was recorded phonograph records and played in sync with the visuals on screen and later on audio, eventually sound in film would progress even further when inventors found a way to put the audio of a film on the celluloid strip on the side of the reel. the innovation of audio in . film can not be understated music and audio add so much to a film giving films an extra level of depth and story telling tool they needed to evolve and be taken seriously as a art form.
