jan 4, 1967 - Imax cinema was first shown
Description:
IMAX cinema was first show at EXPO 67' in Montreal by a group of experimental Canadian cinematographers to create the first truly large screen experience. It worked by syncing up multiple projectors each showing a different part of the same frame to then come to together like a sort of mosaic.
This was important to film making as it then lead IMAX to start Digital Re-mastering (also known as DMR) of hollywood blockbusters, where the quality of films were enhanced with IMAX quality.
