Description:
The Wattasids technically were vizies whose hold the real power in Marinid. They rotated Marinid sultans, often still children, in quick succession to ensure a strong viziership. In 1472, they usurped the power in Fez and made Marrakesh as their capital and claimed for a policy of coexistence with the Portuguese.
