Description:
It was a long series of wars and battles between the Christian Kingdoms and the Muslim Moors for control over Iberian Peninsula. Toledo was the first Islamic centre falls to Christianity, who was Alfonso VI of Leon-Castile. In the beginning, Toledo was the capital city of Moorish Muslims in Andalus and it was the centre of Iberian Peninsula. During Taifa period, Toledo was facing a fight against other Muslims states and they asked from the Christians Kingdoms to help them. However, al-Qadir succeeded his father caliph and expelled Alfonso. Unfortunately, the Moorish community did rebel him and they wanted Alfonso assisted them again. The king agreed that al-Qadir had to give Toledo in return for the Moors holding into Valencia. When Alfonso had arrived in Toledo, the Moors were tired to fight and invited him to enter the city. Nevertheless, the Kingdom of Zaragoza resisted and forced to besiege the city by Alfonso himself. By the ‘reconquista’ ideologies that encouraged Alfonso to conquer the Muslim states, the fall of Toledo by the Christians Kingdom was the significance event that makes King Alfonso may claim his leadership of Andalus or Spain for Leon Castile.
