In 1883, the minor Boer republics of Stellaland, and Goshen were united to form the United States of Stellaland. This republic wished to unite with the South African Republic [Transvaal], but they need permission from the British. The British were hesitant to allow for Transvaal expansion, but knew that the nation would likely cause problems to them and allowed for the USS to become a Transvaal protectorate in 1886.Added to timeline:
