jun 25, 1867 - The strike

Description:

the chinese workers went on strike about 5,000 chinese workes went on strike. When they first started working they were only paid $25 per day. Then on spring in 1867 Charles Crocker gave them more money it was about $31 to $35 per month, but the chinses workes wanted $40 per month they aslo wanted charles to make there work day 11 to 10 hours. They also wanted shorter shift hours in the cramped, dangerous tunnels, there shift were supposed to be 8 hours long in the tunnels but they were often forced to work extra hours.
