sep 1, 1897 - Paul-Louis Simond
Description:
Who: A French army physician working with Pasteur.
Accomplishments: He discovered that the flea was the cause of the bacteria by conducting an experiment. The experiment consisted of two rats, one that was sick and had fleas and another rat on top that was healthy. He knew that fleas could jump about 4 inches so that's the difference between sick and healthy rat - they were separated by wire mesh. Not long after the healthy rat became sick and had fleas.
