In 2004 Nick Woodman Invented the first ever truly portable and water proof photography camera, that could be strapped onto your wrist. It used 35 mm film and didn't require batteries to operate. It was the first time a camera had been invented for the purpose of POV sport photography and the first time a camera could be waterproof.
This invention paved the way for a multi-billion dollar industry. It was where it all started. Without the Ultimate Strap and 35mm analog camera, GoPro would never exist.
in 2006 GoPro revolutionized the sports world, when they released the 'Digital Hero' which was just as lightweight and small as the 2004 model but now could record footage and underwater.
Incredible moments have been captured on the GoPro, such as the highest ever free fall from space, and many sporting historic moments, that without the invention, would never have been captured as close up and in the action.
It changed the way things could be filmed, it made filming action and sports more cheap and practical, it allowed opportunities to get POV shots during sports or in cinema that couldn't be done with a big camera. It helped revolutionize the technology used in other small devices like drones, hand held stabilizers and other sport and underwater cameras today.
