The first camera phone was released in Japan, the "J-Phone" was a digital phone with a built in camera. Photos could be shared, though it was a slower process than it is today. The phone camera had a resolution of 0.11 megapixels. Though it was a starting point for camera integrated phones, the first phone camera itself never made it out of Japan.Added to timeline:
