The Border War was started while the Mexican Revolution was occurring. During the Mexican Revolution, American troops were stationed along the border and fought against any Mexican rebels. The height of the Border War came when the revolutionary Pancho Villa attacked one of the border towns known as Columbus. America then launched an expedition to try and capture Villa, and though they did not get Villa, they killed two of his most important lieutenants. Throughout the rest of the war America made smaller expeditions into Mexico until America finally won the war. The war took place between 1910 and 1919 and caused the establishment of the permanent border war.
