Amerigo was born on March 9, 1454 at Florence, Italy. He died on February 22, 1512 at Seville, Spain. Amerigo Vespucci had looked for signs so he knew he had reached Asia, but he found no signs that he had reached his destination. Amerigo Vespucci realized that him, Columbus, and Cabot had found lands that had not yet known to Europeans. In 1507 a German mapmaker named Martin Waldseemuller created a world map that included the new and newly found lands, he named the new lands he found in honor of Amerigo Vespucci.
