jan 12, 1916 - Woodrow Wilson vs. Charles Evans Hughes
Description:
In this election, the Progressive Party tried to nominate Roosevelt again but he wanted to unify the Republican party again so he promoted Charles Evans Hughes. So Charles Evans Hughes was chosen as the Republican candidate while the Democrats nominated Woodrow Wilson again. The Democrats argued and stressed that Wilson had kept America out of the European war and therefore should be re elected. What turned out to be a very close campaign, Wilson came out on top and won the election for the Democrats.
