In this election, Roosevelt declined to run. Therefore the Republican party chose William Howard Taft who promised to keep all of Roosevelt's policies. For a third time, the Democratic Party chose William Jennings Bryan. Since Taft promised to keep all of Roosevelt’s policies, business leaders campaigned for him. Taft ended up winning the election.
