dec 23, 1903 - Theodore Roosevelt vs. Alton Parker
Description:
After William McKinley was assassinated, the Republicans nominated his vice president Theodore Roosevelt even though many Republicans thought of him as too liberal. The Democrats were still divided over gold and silver, but it was gold this time that won as the democratic party selected Alton Parker as their candidate. Parker attacked Roosevelt for things like antitrust policies but it was no use as Theodore Roosevelt won the election with his popularity.
