George Monbiot, a writer and political and environmental activist began working at BBC Natural History Unit as a radio producer. Monbiot would make natural history and environmental programs until transferring to the BBC's World Service and later left to pursue his own research and write his first book. The significance of this is that this is when he began his environmental activist career that led to the "I’ve converted to veganism to reduce my impact on the living world" article.
