jan 4, 1898 - Paul-Louis Simond Imprisons Rats in Two-Tier Jar Cage, Discovers Truth about the Plague and Rats

Description:

Simond did an experiment in which two rats, one healthy and one sic with the plague, are kept suspended one above the other. By keeping them separated he came to the conclusion when the healthy rat got sick that the connection had to be fleas jumping from one to the other, proving that the plague is moved between rats and to humans by way of fleas. This is specific to bubonic and septicemic plague while pnuemonic is spread through the air.
