After the ban on under ground nuclear testing ASCI needed a new super computer to help with the US's nuclear arsenal. So IBM built the ASCI Red super computer to be delivered Sandia National Laboratories. The ASCI remained as the worlds fastest super computer until the year 2000. It was able to acheive a peak preformance of 1.3 teraflops.Added to timeline:
