Lois Weber was one of the most important film directors and one of earliest female film directors as well. Her film, Suspense, made split-screen effects popular.
She had a huge impact on the film industry by pioneering new ideas in terms of film manipulation, but also by showing that women could be successful in the industry at high level roles.
