oct 10, 524 - Hagios Polyeuktos

Description:

Constantinople, c. 524

Anicia Juliana was the patron of this church, but due to later lootings and neglect, it is no longer standing. The remnants of the foundation suggest that it had very thick foundations which probably supported a large dome. Fragments and extant written descriptions of it indicate that it was probably inspired by the Biblical descriptions of the Temple of Solomon.
