George Washington was told to protect a British fort. on the way he en countered a french military unit and both sides fought.

both french and British sought allies among the local Native American populations. the french recruited the Pottawattamie, Winnebago, Ojibwe, Mississauga, and the Huro. the British turned to the Iroquois Confederacy.
1763
the war ended with the defeat at the battle of Quebec and the signing of the treaty of Paris
