Description:

The Seattle soda tax went into effect January 1st, 2018, following previous taxes in other big cities such as Berkeley and Philadelphia. It had a higher tax rate (1.75 cents per ounce) and sparked protest in the city. This tax also had the goal of reducing sugar intake as well as obesity, but was not as well received as the one in CA.
