mar 20, 1483 - Battle of Axarquia
Description:
The battle of Axarquia involves fierce fights between a Spanish force led by Marquis of Cadiz who were on their way to attack Malaga and a strong Moorish force under Abul Hasan who was the former King of Granada. The Moors did an ambush attack towards the Spanish armies in the pass at Axarquia, during which 800 people including 400 men of rank were killed while the other 1600 were taken as prisoners. The event can be categorised as notable to me as it becomes the basis of the Battle of Lucena which occurred just the following month after the battle under the command of Sultan Muhammad XII to imitate the success obtained by the former king who was his competition.
