oct 7, 1763 - The Proclamation Line of 1763
Description:
The Proclamation Line of 1763 began the westward expansion which would influence Tecumseh from the day of his birth. The colonists were upset because they believed the French and Indian War had been fought for land that the British then gave to the Native Americans. Squatters began moving west, past the proclamation line and started settling the Native Americans' land with no regard for their presence. This would lead to many conflicts between America and different Native American groups, including Tecumseh's pan-Indian coalition, over the next several decades.
