Description:
The NSLA was signed into law in 1946 by Harry Truman, providing free and reduced lunch to students who qualified for the program (based on income). It takes advantage of commodity crops and surplus in order to make this plan viable. Presently this law still benefits millions of students every year by helping them meet their biological need for food so they can more easily focus on their education.
