20h 8min, oct 26, 1776 y - In desperate need of financing and arms, Congress sends Benjamin Franklin to France to urge the French to ally with America. This was important because since France had great materials and weapons, and was doing very good in general. Also, the France sent supporters and helpers to America, such as Lafayette. So, that’s why it was important, because France did in fact help the Americans and supported the Revolution. So, it was important that Benjamin Franklin was sent to France to recruit them.
