This is important because it helped motivate Britain to become the most powerful nation and start to settle their colonies and get more colonies. This is also important because it helped the settlement of Jamestown. It did this because it made settlement less of a threat because the greatest navy had been taking out. Mercantilism also helped and it contributed to the British's want for wealth. Basically it made a power shift and provided a window of opprutunity for the British.
