0h 20min, jul 5, 1943 y - Battle of Kursk

Description:

The Battle of Kursk began with the Nazis launching an attack on Kursk, Soviet Union. The Germans split up their attack on two fronts, sending half of their troops to the north and the other half to the south. However, the Soviet Army countered this attack by heavily defending Kursk with mines and turrets. After eleven days, the Soviet Union won the fight and, for the first time, a major Nazi attack was stopped. This defence was made possible by British intelligence who were able to intercept messages from the Nazis. The information gave the Soviet Army time to prepare and respond based on the German offence. In total, there were around 546,500 people killed during this battle, not including wounded personnel.
