Robert Koch isolated anthrax, injected it into an ox eyeball and discovered that this got healthy cattle sick as well. He came up with postulates to prove that microbes are causing disease. These include being able to find the pathogen in every sick organism, isolate the pathogen, and infect healthy organisms with the microbes.
