Description:
- Al-Mahdi ordered for the construction of a palace city called Mahdiyya.
- It is situated on the Mediterranean coast, southeast of Qayrawan which allows them to be able to compete with Byzantines in regards to trade in the Mediterranean sea.
- Mahdiyya developed into another major trading city like Qayrawan.
