jan 1, 1932 - James Chadwick
1932 AD
Description:
James Chadwick was essentially the finally piece of the puzzle, even though we still don't know everything about atoms and are still learning more about them today. James Chadwick discovered the protons and neutrons inside of the nucleus by sending alpha particles through beryllium, which came out as neutrons. Then those neutrons went through paraffin wax, which came out with protons that hit a detector that counted the protons. This allowed Chadwick to discover both neutrons and protons which made up the nucleus, which finally allowed the atom to be shown in it's true form.
