jan 1, 1897 - JJ Thompson
1897 AD
Description:
JJ Thompson sent electricity through a Cathode Ray Tube and used magnets to find out that electricity is negatively charged. Then when he went to clean out the chamber, there were materials that he didn't know what they were, so in his 3rd experiment, he looked for a way to find out what the materials were. In doing so he discovered that ability to measure the ratio of a particle's mass to a electrical charge, allowing him to discover electrons. This made Thompson create the plum pudding model of positively charged "pudding" and negatively charged electrons.
