jun 2, 1964 - Civil RIghts Act of 1964

Description:

The Civil Rights Act of 1964, the fourth civil rights act so far, makes sweeping provisions to completely outlaw discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin. It also prohibits unequal voter registration requirements, prohibits racial segregation in schools, employment and public accomodation. Originally, congress had trouble enforcing this bill, but over the next few years and with the strengthening of the Interstate Commerce Clause, it becomes very enforceable.
