jan 1, 1932 - James Chadwick

Description:

Experiment:
James Chadwick's Experiment was where he shot alpha ray through beryllium and paraffin (wax). When the rays went through, he noticed a differently charged ray come out.
Discovery:
From the differently charged ray, he assumed it to be a gamma ray, but when he went into further detail of the ray, he figured out that something was knocking the protons out of configuration, making the ray change. Due to the mass of electrons being very very light compared to protons, this was when the neutron was discovered.
Model:
In the model, it shows the alpha particles being sent out. Once it hits the beryllium, the discovered neutrons fly out and hit the paraffin wax, which then sends just protons to the detector.
