jun 16, 1775 - Battle of Bunker hill

Description:

A early battle that ended in a american loss but resulted in major british casualties and a confidence boost for american soldiers. After hearing the british were planning to send troops to the hills surrounding boston 1000 militia men built forts on top of Breed’s Hill. As the british marched up the hill Colonel ordered famously “to not fire until you see the whites in their eyes.” This lead to more accurate shots and over a 1000 redcoats shot. In the end after 3 waves the militiamen ran out of ammo and had to retreat with only 100 casualties
