apr 19, 1775 - Battle of lexington and Concord

Description:

The first engagement between british and american troops. British troops were given secret orders to destroy colonial military supplies. Patriot leaders figured this out weeks ahead and moved most of the supplies to a different location. Several riders including Paul Revere ran through the streets gathering a small force to meet the british. The first battle resulted in 8 militia deaths and 1 british death. But the militiamen retreated back to concord where they meet with a larger army and the collective militia of 400 engaged 100 british regulars who then retreated back the main body of british forces. As the soldiers head back to boston after searching for supplies more militiamen arrived and there were sporadic fights that led to a british retreat.
