mar 28, 1774 - Coercive or “Intolerable” acts
Description:
Acts passed by the british in response to the boston tea party. It took away self-governance and other historic rights of massachusetts and put the colony under full british control. They hoped to make a example of boston to push away any colonial resistance. It closed boston's ports and had the trials of british officers be held in Great Britain instead of where they were accused. The patriots saw this as a violation of their rights and established the 1st continental congress to coordinate protests.
