mar 18, 1766 - Declaratory Act of 1766

Description:

After the Colonist response to the Stamp Act of 1765, British parliament decided they needed to find a way to have more control over the colonies. The Stamp Act was repealed, and Declaratory Act of 1766 was issued. The Declaratory Act affirmed British power over the colonies. The Act stated that Parliament had full power to make laws and statutes to bind the colonies. The inflexible act created a rift between Britain and the colonies that proved to be unfixable.
