mar 24, 1765 - Quartering Act of 1765

Description:

The Quartering Act of 1765 was imposed to decrease the cost of maintaining British troops in the American colonies following the French and Indian war. Under the Quartering Act of 1765 parliament required each colony to provide basic needs, such as bedding, cooking utensils, firewood, and drinks for British soldiers within their borders. Colonist were also responsible for housing soldiers. This made many colonist angry because not only did they have to “babysit” them, but they did not feel like there was any reason for British soldiers to be in America during a time of peace.
