The Stamp Act Congress was the first congress of the American colonies. Representatives from 9 different colonies met in New York City from October 7- October 25, 1765. The objective of this meeting was to organise a protest against British taxation, with emphasis on the Stamp Act of 1765. The Congress drafted a declaration of grievances toward the British.
